At the Dulles Day 5K on the Runway
Week 2 of my half marathon training was much the same as week 1 in the sense of how busy I was. Because of Back to School Night on Wednesday, I was at work from 6:45am-9:00pm. Although this was a forced rest day as far as training was concerned, it was anything but restful since I was on my feet the majority of the time that I was at school. Preston and I kept busy all weekend long with many activities, including my dad being in town from Illinois, running the Dulles Day 5K on the Runway Saturday morning, and completing my first long run of my training Sunday morning.
Despite how busy this past week was, I’m happy to report that training continued as planned. Although I had hoped to fit in more weight training than I was able to, I still completed all of my planned runs and increase my mileage from last week.
Monday 9/9 – 3.36 mile treadmill run, kettlebell squat swings, abs
Tuesday 9/10 – Resistance band strength training for my ankle, abs
Wednesday 9/11 – “Rest” day, aka Back to School Night
Thursday 9/12 – 3.35 mile treadmill run, chest, arms, legs
Friday 9/13 – Rest day
Saturday – Dulles Day 5K on the Runway
Sunday – 4.66 mile run on the W&OD Trail, 2.14 mile walk while I waited for Preston to finish his 10 mile run on the trail
Total Mileage – 16.65 miles (4.16 miles more than week 1)
