Last week was quite eventful. Not only was it the first week of school with my new students, but it was also the first official week of my Walt Disney World Half Marathon Training. To top it all off, Preston and I ran three races last week. I certainly can’t complain about life being boring – its been anything but that lately!
Despite such a busy week with work and life in general, I’m very proud of myself for sticking to the training plan that Preston and I worked on about three weeks ago. Its based on Jeff Galloway’s runDisney training plans, and focuses on the use of the Run-Walk-Run method. I know that over the course of my 19 week training plan that it may be difficult to stick to the plan 100%, but at least I’ve started out on the right foot.
Since some weekends I will have back to back training, typically a walk one day followed by my weekly long run the next, which will help prepare me for the 10K and half marathon on back days during Marathon Weekend, my training weeks will always follow a Monday-Sunday schedule.
So here it is: my first training log weekly recap!
Monday 9/2 – Rest day from Rock ‘n’ Roll Virginia Beach Mini Marathon
Tuesday 9/3 – 3.37 mile treadmill run, kettlebell squat swings, abs
Wednesday 9/4 – 30 minutes on the elliptical, chest, back, arms
Thursday 9/5 – Rest day
Friday 9/6 – Electric Run DC 5K
Saturday 9/7 – Arlington Police, Fire & Sheriff 9/11 Memorial 5K
Sunday 9/8 – Resistance band strength training for my ankle
Total Mileage – 12.49 miles
